Hox Gallery presents Bieke Buckinx
Bieke Buckinx is a Brussels-based visual artist who uses her work as a platform to shape genuine audience connections. Over the years, she has crafted her own unique artistic universe as a full-time painter. Her contemporary and figurative paintings primarily focus on everyday subjects, seeking beauty in the mundane. Infused with a certain irony of humor, her works aim to emphasize the less serious side of life, maintaining an airy quality without losing depth.
TACOTACOTACO – By painting the subject again and again (ten times that is), the taco shifts from fastfood to image. What would normally disappear in a few bites is slowed down and examined with attention. The taco is isolated and enlarged into a small monument: a tortilla overflowing with ingredients, balancing between still life and pop culture.
The taco — colourful, generous and slightly chaotic — is a food meant to enjoy fast and without too much seriousness. It’s messy, unpredictable, and perhaps not the most obvious choice for a first date… or maybe exactly the right one?
Displayed in our lobby until July 2026. Don’t miss it.
