Step into ROOM FOR STRANGERS, a solo exhibition by Italian artist Elena Pizzichelli, curated by Galleria Sospesa.
Through vibrant acrylic paintings, Pizzichelli explores the quiet traces people leave behind. Set tables, open books, flowers, kitchens and living rooms become familiar yet mysterious scenes — intimate spaces where something has just happened, or is about to.
There are rarely people in her paintings, yet their presence is everywhere. A glass left on a table, a chair slightly out of place or a book left open becomes a small trace of a gesture, a habit or a relationship. Everyday objects become silent keepers of memory.
At The Hoxton, these intimate interiors find a new context within a hotel built around movement, encounters and temporary stays. The paintings create a dialogue between private and public, inviting guests to pause, look closer and recognise something of their own lives in these seemingly ordinary spaces.
The title ROOM FOR STRANGERS captures this tension: rooms made for people we don’t know, yet filled with stories and emotions that feel instantly familiar.
