Planning your pet-friendly route in Edinburgh

Travelling with a dog in Edinburgh shouldn’t be a hassle. Here are some insider tips to make your journey smooth and sniff-friendly:

Buses & Trams: Dogs are welcome on Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams at the driver’s discretion. Small, well-behaved pups are usually no problem, just keep them on a lead or in a carrier and avoid peak hours if you can.

Trains: Most ScotRail services are dog-friendly, with up to two dogs allowed per passenger free of charge. Leads are a must, and it’s best to bring a blanket or mat if your dog likes a comfy spot.

Taxis & Rideshares: Many black cabs in Edinburgh allow dogs, but always ask first. For app-based rides like Uber, message the driver in advance or try Uber Pet where available.

On Foot: Edinburgh is a dream for dog walking. From cobbled Old Town streets to leafy paths in Princes Street Gardens and Arthur’s Seat, our hotel’s location puts you close to scenic spots for walkies and wind-downs.
