Our Story

The Hoxton is a series of open-house hotels inspired by the diversity and originality of the streets and scenes that surround us.

How We Got Here

Just like our doors, our minds are open too. We turn empty car parks into hotels, reimagine old buildings that have interesting stories, and breathe fresh life into new ones.

June 2006

The Hoxton, Shoreditch

Where it all began, in London’s East End back in 2006 when we turned a car park into our first hotel.

The Hoxton, Holborn

Our second hotel opened in Central London in 2014, on High Holborn in a former telephone exchange.

A month later, we landed in the one and only Portland in an iconic building in historic Old Town Chinatown.

In April 2019, we opened our doors in Chicago’s Fulton Market District, with three drinking and dining destinations and our first rooftop pool.

The Hoxton, Southwark

In 2019, we circled back to London and opened our third hotel on home soil — this time just south of the river.

The Hoxton, Downtown LA

LA-LA-Land! In 2019, we opened our doors on Broadway in Downtown LA, in an iconic building that was previously L.A. Railway HQ.

The Hoxton, Rome

Ciao Roma! We landed in Italy in May 2021, opening our doors in a charming corner of Parioli, a stone's throw from leafy Villa Borghese.

April 2022

The Hoxton, Poblenou

We opened in Poblenou, a creative corner of Barcelona in spring 2022, with our first rooftop pool in Europe (poolside tacos anyone?) and introduced our new ‘Homey’ room category, complete with kitchenettes that are great for longer stays and families.

Open House

Our lobbies are the beating heart of our hotels. Open round the clock, with comfy seats, cosy corners, and food and drink on tap, they’re spaces where guests can hang out alongside the locals, and immerse themselves in the neighbourhood.

Local Favourites

We know some of the best moments need the best food and drink. From rooftop taquerias and panoramic seafood restaurants to discrete cocktail bars and speakeasys, our bars and restaurants are neighbourhood favourites.

Thoughtful Design

All our bedrooms, public spaces and restaurants are designed to feel vibrant, cosy and welcoming – like a home away from home. Our in-house design team takes inspiration from our neighbourhoods right the way through the design process, and work closely with local artists and makers to add flair to each property.

Cultural Partnerships

We’ve always been big on local. From the artwork in our lobbies, to the wallpaper and furnishings in our bedrooms, the uniforms our team wear, and the events programme we curate, we strive to be an authentic reflection of our neighbourhoods, whilst supporting the communities that live and breathe around us.
