Travel Light with Slancha

Where The Hoxton, Shoreditch
When 12-20 September

This London Design Festival, The Hoxton, Shoreditch is teaming up with design gallery and studio Slancha for Travel Light, celebrating emerging design talent and new ideas around travel, objects and the way we live now.

Earlier this year, Slancha asked emerging designers around the world what it means to Travel Light in 2026. More than 200 submissions landed from over 20 countries, with 12 unique objects now taking over the Hox Shop.

Designed to be packed, collected and lived with, the collection puts a new spin on the objects and rituals of travel. Expect a flat-pack lamp made in Hackney, a tiny vase cast from a British water mains cover, a pocket-sized ice cream spoon and a sculptural take on the classic hotel matchbox.

Phaidon joins the takeover with a curated edit of design books to browse and buy, while Slancha will transform the lobby with an installation of furniture and objects from its wider creative community.

There’s plenty happening beyond the Hox Shop too. Hox Talks returns with Duncan Riches chatting to Finn Thomson and Freya Bolton of Mitre & Mondays about their approach to design and reconnecting people with the material world.

Designer and artist George Exon, whose ice cream spoons feature in Travel Light, will also host a free hands-on workshop, inviting guests to create their own fridge magnets while sharing the playful ideas behind his practice.

Travel Light takes over The Hoxton, Shoreditch from 12–20 September, with all 12 pieces available to browse and buy from the Hox Shop, open 24/7.
