Planning your pet-friendly route in Paris

Travelling with your dog in Paris? Here’s how to make getting around the City of Light as smooth and sniff-friendly as possible:

Metro & RER: Small dogs are allowed on public transport in a carrier. Larger dogs may be permitted on RER trains with a muzzle and leash — and you’ll need a half-price ticket for them.

Trains: Most French trains (like the TGV and Intercités) welcome dogs. Small pets in carriers travel free; larger dogs need a ticket and must be leashed and muzzled.

Taxis & Rideshares: Many taxis and rideshares (like Uber) allow dogs, but always check with your driver ahead of time. Uber Pet is also an option in some parts of the city.

On Foot: The Hoxton, Paris is perfectly located for strolls through dog-friendly areas like Rue Montorgueil, Canal Saint-Martin, and Palais Royal Gardens — ideal for a leg stretch and a spot of people-watching.

The Rules (just a few)
