Hox Gallery Presents: Miriam Morris - Composed of Nows
‘Miriam Morris is an Irish photographer, writer and artist living in Scotland. She works in both analogue and digital photography as well as mixed media.
‘composed of nows’ takes its title from Emily Dickinson’s poem ‘Forever is composed of Nows’ in which Dickinson suggests that eternity is the accumulation of the present, each fleeting ‘now’ a part of something continuous and immeasurable.
This series, comprising of candid and staged imagery, draws on the Celtic concepts of hiraeth, síreacht and cianalas. Each work serves as a dreamstate vignette, reflecting a longing or ache for a time or place that can no longer be returned to – or perhaps never truly existed.
This exhibition at Hox Gallery features new work across 35mm photography, Polaroid and writing.
Now open until January 4th.
