Cédrick Dauberton at The Hox Gallery
About the exhibition
In Under My Skin, Franco-Canadian artist Cédrick Dauberton explores emotions, memory, and the human psyche as layers of a shared “emotional epidermis” – the love, the memories, the relationships and the experiences that accumulate inside us and quietly shape who we are. Through drawing, painting, textile and sculptural work, he gives physical form to the intangible – faces, eyes, hearts and veins that flow, overlap and transform, like fragments of inner cartographies. An invitation to look beyond the surface.
About the artist
Born and raised in Guadeloupe, now based in Paris, Cédrick Dauberton is a Franco-Canadian artist whose journey has been shaped by different places and cultures – from his Caribbean roots to years spent in Toronto and South Africa. For more than fifteen years, he worked in fashion as a model while developing his career as an actor. These experiences – deeply tied to the body, to image, to the way we present ourselves to the world — gradually fed his desire to explore what lies beyond appearances.
His visual language is built around fluid organic lines, faces, eyes, hearts, veins and forms that flow and transform. He approaches his works as inner cartographies – an emotional epidermis made of the visible and invisible experiences that build identity. With Under My Skin, Dauberton layers these strata as fragments of a single psyche – turning deeply personal experience into something universal.
