Hox Gallery Presents: Dave Buonaguidi

Where The Hoxton, Shoreditch
When From September, 2023

Dave Buonaguidi AKA Real Hackney Dave, is an artist who pushes visual boundaries, combining found ephemera and emotive imagery with assertive slogans that demand attention.

Our latest Hox Gallery is brought to you by Electric Gallery one of London’s leading print galleries for modern and contemporary art, showcasing an unrivalled curation of limited-edition pieces, rare print editions, photography and original works. Alongside Electric Gallery, we welcome Dave and his collection of London inspired works to grace the walls at The Hox Shoreditch from September.

In 2003, Buonaguidi created the iconic ‘Make Tea Not War’ poster for the march against the war on Iraq. Today, this piece forms part of the collection at the V&A and hangs in the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto in Italy.

This exhibition shows some love to our beloved city, and applies Dave’s expertise in advertising and mass production, whilst working with shock colours, fun language and textures to create a light-hearted reaction from the viewer. Check out our exclusive ‘London Is Always A Good Idea’ print and see if you can spot some familiar landmarks on the map… hint hint, you’re standing in one right now!
