About us…

Our story

Just like our doors, our minds are open too. Ever since we opened our first hotel, The Hoxton Shoreditch, way back in 2006, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that, providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighborhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces. Then there's our eclectic programme of monthly events where we bring the outside in, working with local creatives to curate events unique to each location.

Back in 2006, The Hoxton, Shoreditch in East London changed the hotel model, proving style didn’t need to be sacrificed for value and that honest pricing is still very much at the heart of everything we do. We opened our second hotel, The Hoxton, Holborn in 2014, followed by properties in Amsterdam, Paris, Williamsburg, and Portland.  Chicago, Los Angeles, and Southwark are all coming soon. While each hotel has its own character, no matter where we open you can be sure to find the familiar Hoxton Hustle. 

Each Hoxton hotel is individual, incorporating the uniqueness of their neighborhoods using local designers, artists, and illustrators for everything from interiors to wallpaper, art and neighborhood guides. The Hoxton, Williamsburg is on the original site of the Rosenwach factory, the maker of the iconic wooden water towers dotted along the skyline of New York City. Featuring 175 bedrooms, a vibrant public area, restaurant, terrace bar, and roof top along with The Apartment, our events and meeting space.

The details

The role will initially be based at a The Hoxton, Williamsburg.  You’ll report to the General Manager and the VP of People for North America.

You’ll be responsible for the People operation at The Hoxton, Williamsburg; you’ll work closely with the rest of the leadership group to recruit and develop the team for The Hoxton, Williamsburg. 

Here’s an idea of how we see the role…

  • You’ll develop, lead and implement our Wiliamsburg People strategy that is compatible with a defined and agreed company direction.
  • You’ll develop, implement and manage the nuts and bolts of the department, our policies, processes and procedures ensuring we are compliant and on top of it at all times.
  • You’ll ensure that the Hotel operates within the employment law framework and act as an Advisor to all Managers on all aspects of employment legislation ensuring full legal and company policy compliance.
  • You'll create awareness of our Brand through strategic activities to attract talent to our hotel and build a talent pool for effective succession management within the business by ensuring effective recruitment strategies are in place.
  • You'll be responsible to develop, lead and implement our Learning & Development culture within the business.
  • You’ll lead our efforts in embedding The Hoxton values and behaviors.
  • You’ll manage the culture of the Hotel by promoting a fair, safe and equitable environment and champion the notion of being an employer of choice through initiatives such as empowerment, innovation, development, communication and remuneration.
  • You'll manage and drive our talent review process from coffee chats, annual reviews through to talent and career management.
  • You’ll support Managers on team relations and performance management
  • You'll get involved and lead projects. We want to hear your ideas and get your input on how to streamline our processes and to deliver innovative solutions into the business.

 About you

  • You are an experienced HR professional with a demonstrable track record of excelling in People operations and have a strong approach to People strategy
  • You will be currently working in a lifestyle or high-end hotel or restaurant group in NY
  • In a past life you may have supported Hotel openings or department set up.
  • You come from a hospitality background with a strong knowledge of hotel operations and employee relations
  • You're someone who is comfortable with a high-profile leadership role
  • You'll have a good understanding and proven experience with the commercial aspects of the business
  • You'll live and breathe each of The Hoxton's senior leader behaviors
  • You'll contribute to the hospitality industry by being involved in local committees, championing career development or attending networking events
  • You’ll have an appropriate level of higher education
