Our story

Just like our doors, our minds are open too. Since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, London in 2006, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that, providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighborhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces. Then there's our eclectic program of monthly events where we bring the outside in, working with local creatives to curate events unique to each location.

We proved that style didn’t need to be sacrificed for value and honest pricing is still very much at the heart of everything we do. We opened our second London hotel in 2014, followed by Amsterdam in 2015, Paris in 2017 and Williamsburg, Portland, Los Angeles, and Chicago all coming soon. Each hotel has its own character; however, you’ll find the familiar Hoxton Hustle, incorporating the uniqueness of their neighborhoods using local designers, artists, and illustrators for everything from interiors to wallpaper, art and neighborhood guides.

The Hoxton, Downtown LA is in a neighborhood that has seen a major revival over the last few years, with some of the city’s best restaurants, shops and bars opening up there and many more in the pipeline. Set in the 10-story Los Angeles Railway building, which was built in 1925, the building has an interesting and varied history, having been the headquarters of the L.A. Railway Authority and later housing a garment manufacturer, a candy shop, a restaurant, and a grocery store - it’s even had film sets, radio towers and electric signs erected on its rooftop. The Hoxton, Los Angeles will offer 174 rooms designed by Ennismore Design Studio, a ground floor restaurant and basement bar operated by a local chef, along with The Hoxton’s first rooftop pool with restaurant and amazing views over Broadway, the historic theatre and cinema district and one of the oldest streets in the city. 

 

The details

The Restaurant Manager will join the pre-opening team, and report to the Assistant Director of Restaurants & Bars at The Hoxton, DTLA.

You are a leader in the Restaurant & Bar operations at The Hoxton, DTLA.  You inspire your team to create memorable experiences for guests of all our restaurants and bars.  You hold yourself and others to a high level of professionalism and integrity, making key decisions based on what is best for the guest, the hotel, and the people who make it operate successfully day to day.

 

Here’s an idea of how we see the role…

  • Oversee and direct the day to day operations of the restaurants for efficient and organized service
  • Supervise the team and the floor operations to maximize profitability, minimize legal liability, and follow regulations
  • Work with wider other management team to plan marketing, advertising and any special restaurant functions
  • Assist with department scheduling, hiring, and performance management
  • Address any concerns from guests regarding food quality or service
  • Ensure sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas are followed.
  • Make sure the restaurants are compliant with all health and safety regulations.
  • Work with Director of R&B and Finance team to review and monitor expenses to ensure they conform to budget limitations. Work to improve financial performance.
  • Lead and inspire your team to ensure a high level of engagement and exceptional individual service
  • Role model The Hoxton’s values and behavior
  • Ensure all members of the team follow the rules, do their best for The Hox, and love their jobs
  • Play a key role in team development and training, both pre-opening and on an ongoing basis
  • Make sure The Hoxton, DTLA maintains 100% labor and legal compliance

About you

  • You have restaurant or hospitality related experience in a similar role.
  • High level of interpersonal and customer relations skills and ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously.
  • You have a baseline food, beverage, and wine knowledge.

  • You have a keen eye for detail and love to share your notes and feedback
  • You’re a natural host and can make guests and team members feel at home in our space
