Our story

Just like our doors, our minds are open too. Since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, London in 2006, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that, providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighborhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces. Then there's our eclectic program of monthly events where we bring the outside in, working with local creatives to curate events unique to each location.

We proved that style didn’t need to be sacrificed for value and honest pricing is still very much at the heart of everything we do. We opened our second London hotel in 2014, followed by Amsterdam in 2015, Paris in 2017 and Williamsburg, Portland, Los Angeles, and Chicago all coming soon. Each hotel has its own character; however, you’ll find the familiar Hoxton Hustle, incorporating the uniqueness of their neighborhoods using local designers, artists, and illustrators for everything from interiors to wallpaper, art and neighborhood guides.

The Hoxton, Downtown LA is in a neighborhood that has seen a major revival over the last few years, with some of the city’s best restaurants, shops and bars opening up there and many more in the pipeline. Set in the 10-story Los Angeles Railway building, which was built in 1925, the building has an interesting and varied history, having been the headquarters of the L.A. Railway Authority and later housing a garment manufacturer, a candy shop, a restaurant, and a grocery store - it’s even had film sets, radio towers and electric signs erected on its rooftop. The Hoxton, Los Angeles will offer 174 rooms designed by Ennismore Design Studio, a ground floor restaurant and basement bar operated by a local chef, along with The Hoxton’s first rooftop pool with restaurant and amazing views over Broadway, the historic theatre and cinema district and one of the oldest streets in the city. 


The details

You’ll report directly to the Director of Restaurants & Bars.

This role will be responsible for inspiring your team to create and execute memorable experiences for guests of all of the restaurants and bars, while working closely with the Director of R&B to ensure successful R&B operations.

We don’t go for strict job descriptions; however, here’s an idea of how we see the role…

> Assists Director of Restaurants & Bars in training and developing management and staff

> Ensure consistent and efficient scheduling for R&B department

> Ensure accuracy and validity of weekly Payroll for Front of House in R&B department

> Develop training documents, menu descriptions and service documents for front of house staff

> Discuss hiring needs with Director of R&B and Director of People and assist in the interviewing and hiring process

> Coordinate interviews with applicants as needed

> On-board and create training programs for new hires

> Prepare daily and seasonal staff training classes and incentive programs

> Design and implement new tools and procedures to improve service as necessary

> Lead pre-shifts daily and make sure staff are aware of all company wide news, HR updates and menu additions

> Take ownership of all guest relation issues when guests call i.e. Chargebacks, staff issues and lost items

> Ensure that all health department standards are being upheld daily

> Has awareness and understanding of the restaurant P+L and implements plans to increase profit margin by controlling labour and operating costs

> Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction and cultivate return business

> Develops and upholds restaurant standard operating procedures

> Meet guests and develop relationships to manage the restaurant from a promotional angle

> Uphold all human resource best practices as it pertains to coaching, counselling, discipline, hiring and terminations

> Follows and ensures compliance of all commune policies and standard operating procedures as outlined in the employee handbook

> Act as an ambassador of the Hoxton culture

About you

> You have 2-3 years of restaurant or hospitality related experience in a similar role

> High level of interpersonal and customer relations skills and ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously

> You have an accelerated level of food, beverage, and wine knowledge

> You are well versed in Food & Beverage trends

> You can remain composed and positive in high-stress environments
