The Details

The Payroll Manager will be based out of the Hox House NYC, our Head office located in Williamsburg. You'll be providing strategic planning, tactical direction and day-to-day management and governance of the North American payroll function.


Examples of responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Help position Ennismore and The Hoxton as employers of choice
  • Maintain a close relationship with each individual member of the team to maintain a consistently high level of engagement
  • Champion The Hoxton’s values and behaviors to ensure they permeate all areas of the business
  • Manage the centralized payroll process and ensure accurate and timely processing of all information regarding pay & benefits on a weekly basis
  • Share your knowledge by taking on payroll-related questions and providing an understanding of your payroll policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements for each of our locations, which currently span four states
  • Ensure the weekly tip sheet is reconciled against Micros reports; ensure accuracy and proper distribution of tips, inform management team of any discrepancies
  • Assist team members with payroll-related inquiries.
  • Prepare payroll data reports as needed, i.e., Hours Worked, Overtime, Approaching Overtime, Paid Time Off reports, etc.

  • Manage Statutory and tax requirement changes
  • Research and implement changes to the payroll configuration in Ultipro and/or the W-2s, as a result of the implementation of any new company programs and/or processes
  • Assess existing processes for areas for improvement and better efficiency
  • Provide strategic planning, tactical direction and day-to-day management and governance of the North American payroll function
  • Oversee payroll procedures with respect to audit, privacy, tax reporting and controls
  • Work closely with Finance teams to ensure all financial controls and reporting are accurate and ensure that payroll solutions developed align with the overall business strategy
  • Ensure accurate and timely support of the month, quarter and year-end finance closing process
  • Oversee the time and absence plans
  • Oversee 401(k) plan files and manage recordkeeping, contributions and loans
  • Collaborate regularly with People team


About You

  • You execute. You get things done
  • You are scarily organized
  • You have a keen eye for detail and love to share your notes and feedback
  • You have a solid knowledge of US tax payroll regulations and reporting requirements, including current federal and multi-state payroll experience.
  • You have at least five years of experience in a Payroll role in a hotel or restaurant group, preferably executing multiple locations
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to The Hoxton’s unique culture
  • You jump out of bed every morning, fizzing with energy and jazzed about what you’re doing today
  • If we get stuck in a lift with you, we’ll get along nicely and have a laugh along the way
