Celebrating Presence and Ritual with Secret Yoga Club
Secret Yoga Club is a forward-thinking community of creatives, yogis and dreamers.
We gather with inspirational teachers, artists and musicians to offer unique experiences that are transformational and memorable. Creating a warm and inclusive space to explore yoga and meditation traditions, blended with other healing modalities and creative practices.
We also love to learn and weave new skills into our lives, finding ways to quiet and expand our minds, blending traditions together to guide us into a new space of awareness and creativity.
We are delighted to be collaborating with our SYC community for a day of workshops:
- May Hands: The history and craft of weaving
In this workshop, led by artist May Hands, you will learn the basics of weaving on a card loom, exploring textures and colour to make your own woven wall hanging to take home with you.
Weaving runs in May’s mother’s line – she was taught by both her grandmother and mother. Through the workshop, May will shall share with you the story of her grandmother who has been weaving since she was 9 years old.
- Nissa Nishikawa: Matter of the Mandala
This workshop includes guided movement meditations to enrich our understanding of impermanence and appreciation for integrity of natural objects.
Please bring a recycled bag/jar with personal collections of earthy elements (i.e. stones, petals, seeds) as well as comfortable clothes to move gently in.
- Alexandria Coe: Life Drawing As A Celebration Of The Female Form
Join Alexandria for a unique life drawing class with a twist.
This playful exploration of the human figure will aim to enlighten your drawing skills as well as your own awareness of the human form. The focus of the class is finding fluidity within your hand and drawing the human form to represent your experience of it.
You will work with others and yourselves to find you own way to interpret the body. Rather than focusing upon perfection, the goal is to loosen up your drawing skills and ultimately have fun.
- Robyn Landau: Handmaking clay vessels for your personal intention
Join Orenda Ceramics for a workshop exploring consciously made ceramics.
We will be hand-building vessels for your personal magic, your mindset, your intention, your voice, your actions. Working with our greatest artists’ tools, our hands, we will pour in our soul into each container and cultivate the soil within them.
Each vessel will act as a talisman, a motivator and reminder for what we wish to invoke.
**Participants will pre-select a glaze colour. Orenda Ceramics will manage glazing and firing following the event. Finished ceramic pieces will be available for collection at The Hoxton, Holborn within 4-6 weeks.
Whether you’d like a gentle space to explore new skills or reconnect with old hobbies... Everyone is welcome, always.
One workshop for morning and one for afternoon per person.
