Just like our doors, our minds are open too. Since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, London in 2006, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that, providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighborhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces. Then there's our eclectic programme of monthly events where we bring the outside in, working with local creatives to curate events unique to each location.

We proved that style didn’t need to be sacrificed for value, and honest pricing is still very much at the heart of everything we do. We opened our second London hotel in 2014, followed by Amsterdam in 2015, Paris in 2017. Williamsburg Portland, Los Angeles are all to come in 2018 with Chicago following in 2019. Each hotel has its own character; however, you’ll find the familiar Hoxton Hustle in each, incorporating the uniqueness of their neighborhoods using local designers, artists, and illustrators for everything from interiors to wallpaper, art and neighborhood guides.

The Hoxton, Williamsburg is on the site of the Rosenwach factory, the maker of the iconic NYC water towers. Featuring 175 bedrooms, a vibrant public area, restaurant, terrace bar, and roof desk along with The Apartment, our events and meeting space.

The details

You are a leader in the Food and Drink operations at The Hoxton, Williamsburg.  You inspire your team to create and execute memorable experiences for guests of all our restaurants and bars.  You hold yourself, and others, to a high level of professionalism and integrity, making key decisions based on what is best for the guest, the company, and the people who make it operate successfully day-to-day.

Here’s an idea of how we see the role…

  • Assists Director of Restaurants and Bars in leading training and development of management and team
  • Develop training documents, menu descriptions, and service documents for front of house staff
  • Upholds restaurant standard operating procedures
  • On board and create training programs for new hires
  • Prepare daily and seasonal staff training classes
  • Design and implement new tools and procedures to improve service as necessary
  • Schedules for some or all of front of house departments
  • Submit and verify payroll for front of house staff
  • Discuss hiring needs with Director of Restaurants and Bars and People team and assist in the interviewing and hiring process
  • Lead pre-shifts daily and make sure staff are aware of all company wide news, People updates, and menu additions
  • Handle all guest relation issues when guests call i.e. Chargebacks, staff issues and lost items
  • Ensure that all health department standards are being upheld daily
  • Has awareness and understanding of the restaurant P+L and implements plans to increase profit margin by controlling labour and operating costs
  • Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction and cultivates return business
  • Meet guests and develop relationships to manage the restaurant from a promotional angle
  • Uphold all People team best practices as it pertains to coaching, counselling, discipline, hiring, and terminations
  • To work in a safe manner at all times, ensuring personal safety and safety of others, ensuring all items raised which may cause harm to guests or other team members are addressed immediately

About you

  • You have restaurant or hospitality related experience in a similar role.
  • High level of interpersonal and customer relations skills and ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously.
  • You have a baseline food, beverage, and wine knowledge.
  • You execute. You get things done
  • You have a keen eye for detail and love to share your notes and feedback
  • You jump out of bed every morning, fizzing with energy and jazzed about what you’re doing today
  • You are humble. There are no egos, and no drama
